Concerns over energy policies prompt US-Canada-Mexico meeting

MEXICO CITY, Mexico: During a meeting on Wednesday between U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, Canadian Trade Minister Mary Ng and their Mexican counterpart, Tatiana Clouthier, the U.S. and Canadian ministers expressed apprehension over Mexico's energy and investment policies.

Tai told a news conference that the United States was closely monitoring the energy policies of the Mexican government, but did not elaborate.

Ng also told reporters that she would discuss changes in the Mexican energy sector with the Mexican energy secretary.

Her office issued a statement saying that Ng had reiterated Canada's "ongoing concern" with the investment climate in the Mexican energy and mining sectors.
