This fuel could be everything from depleted uranium, nuclear weapons, mine tailings, and used light water reactor fuel.

There's enough of that shit already mined to power human civilization for two or three centuries.

Freshly mined uranium is less expensive and easier to work with than alternative nuclear fuels, but fundamentally, unlike fossil fuels, fuel costs are not the primary expense of nuclear energy.
