I love the thought of hydrogen powered vehicles, there is problems

One hydrogen is almost any air born concentration is explosive, unlike things like methane where there is a ratio where it goes boom. Also the easiest what to get bulk hydrogen is from methane, splitting water takes way too much energy. So we would still need to drill for natural gas to make hydrogen. It is still also not cheap to make even from methane, you need to buy the methane, then split it, it winds up costing twice as much as natural gas does.

But it has a lot of good things going for it, be it fuel cells to actually used in internal combustion engines. Heck I saw an experimental diesel engine that ran on 50% hydrogen and got great mileage compared to plain diesel engines and still had enough power to pull a trailer.
