The Heat Will Kill You First...

This interview with Rolling Stone's Jeff Goodell about his new book, "The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet" is very informative and eye-opening.

Anyone living in Texas, Arizona, and all the other States where we have been 100°+ for weeks without any relief will totally agree but even those not experiencing the devastating heat are suffering from the other global warming effects of storms, tremendous flooding, drought, 90° water temperature will appreciate this interview.

Time to push the politicians into getting the guts to do something while we still have the ability to do so.

I agree, It's getting very frustrating that so many officials (including Biden) were elected due to their strong stand on transitioning away from fossil fuels and yet there is soooo much that is not yet being done, or even spoken about, to make that happen.

I've read that polls claim climate chaos is becoming less of a concern to voters, but that doesn't make it go away, and voting issues don't come to people's minds randomly, they are placed there by the discussions of politicians.

It was good to see AOC, Sanders, and Whitehouse discussing the transition last week but we obviously need a LOT more talk, and action, and SOON.

The only other place I’ve been hotter was in chitchen itza in Mexico during August. 118 degrees is insane. Walking a short distance from a car to a grocery store is mind numbing hot. I live in SF where it’s 60 degrees now. I couldn’t imagine ever living here. And this is going on all over the US. God help us!

will result in more public awareness of the dire situation we are now facing. Here in Texas there is almost a worship of the fossil fuel industry. To the point that if you even mention Climate Change or sustainable energy it is viewed by most people as ridiculous or absurd.

How about this...if taxpayers are going to spend $31 billion for the proposed "Ike Dike" to protect the petrochemical industries in the Houston ship channel the govt. forces the same industries to match an equal amount in transitioning to sustainable improvements either in CO2 capture or green energy.

It just doesn't seem logical that we would contribute willingly to the very industry that is causing the problem?

But there have been many books and papers written over many decades to try and push politicians to do something.

And nothing was done.

We don't "still have the ability" to control this.

It's all wishful thinking now.

I recommend everyone read The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells and The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption by Dahr Jamail.

Scientists, some are fucking old scientists will illuminate the situation for you.
