295,000+ Acres Burned In SW Kansas So Far; Windy Fire Weather Returning, Though Not As Severe As 1st Round

The devastating wildfires that wreaked (sic) havoc in the Oklahoma Panhandle and southwest Kansas last week are still torching more land. Over the weekend, the Oklahoma Forestry Division reported the largest of the fires, the Ranger Road Fire which burned in Beaver and Harper Counties in the state and more in Kansas, was only 30 percent contained. The last update said it had burned 283,283 acres.

The Stevens Fire in Texas Count and in southwest Kansas was 75% under control but had burned 12,428 acres, reported the Forestry Division.

Outlook: A fire-effective weather pattern with dry-return flow and potential for another dry cold front will increase fire danger concern next week although the magnitude is expected to be less impactful than conditions experienced this week.

Tuesday will present the highest fire danger indices next week based on current forecast data although elevated concern holds in place through the remainder of the week. Through the bulk of next week, initial attack activity is expected to be challenging with elevated large fire potential.

1. If I were an Evangelical who believed in an interventionist God

who punished His followers for breaking His commandments, I’d say that this was divine retribution for voting for a mid-grade stand-in for the Anti-Christ during the 2024 presidential election.

If someone broached this idea to a Religious Right radio station or message board, I suspect that he or she would get disconnected in nothing flat.

2. Roughly the same happened during Year 1 of Turd Reich 1.0

Same region in Kansas got clocked by wildfires in 2017, with whole herds and ranches wiped out.

After emergency USDA assistance and FEMA took weeks to months to materialize, local coverage was chockablock with ranchers in diners, chanting "Save us, President Trump!! Visit us and bring us hope!!" IIRC, he didn't even mention it in his social media feeds, let alone visit.

There were, of course, reasons for this response.

A. He didn't/doesn't care about you. At all.
B. Why would he visit counties with 725 voters?
C. Why visit counties where he already got 80% of those votes?
D. He didn't/doesn't care about you. At all.
