Europe is facing a growing jet fuel crisis and its being driven by the ongoing disruption linked to the war in Iran.
In this video, I break down exactly whats happening to jet fuel supplies, why imports into Europe are collapsing, and how stock levels are now falling to dangerously low levels. Using the latest data and charts, we take a detailed look at how Europe relies on around 500,000 barrels per day of imported jet fuel much of it from the Middle East and why that supply is now under threat.
With tanker routes disrupted around the Strait of Hormuz, imports have dropped sharply, inventories are being depleted, and jet fuel prices have surged to record highs.
So what does this mean for airlines and for you?
In this video, we cover:
Why Europe is particularly vulnerable to a jet fuel shortage
The sharp decline in imports since late 2025
The worrying fall in jet fuel stock levels in 2026
Why prices are now at the highest levels ever recorded
What this could mean for flight prices, travel demand, and tourism
This is a real-time example of how geopolitical events can quickly impact global supply chains and your cost of living.
If youre interested in energy markets, aviation, or global economics, this is a story you need to understand.

(8,020 posts)Cut out the fly everywhere tourist trade, let them take trains, buses, boats.
Stop politicians and owners of private jets flying everywhere.
Mothball most of the commercial flying fleet.
Reduce airport plane parking fees.
Essential use? Military planes, but only for emergency needs.
'Adjustments' need to be made until this blows over.

Australian government spent a reported AU $20M on a TV advertising splurge.
The advice?
Save petrol!
Pump up your tyres properly, combine driving trips, drive easy.
Probably things people do already.
I could given that advice for free!

I can't believe how badly this whole thing has been bungled by this administration. All Fatso can do is crow about "DEALS!" that Iran will never agree to--why would they?

(693 posts)Europe has amazing public transportation infrastructure. They will take the wonderful trains they have instead of flying.
Many years ago my family took a trip to the area near Cadiz. Rather than flying to Madrid and connecting to a flight to our destination we flew to Madrid and then took the train south. It was so much fun for our family with young children rather than simply flying. Trains in Europe are wonderful and fast.
