Fracking 'could put gas and chemicals' in drinking water

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23373618

Drinking water could be contaminated with methane gas and chemicals due to fracking, water companies have warned.

Water UK, which represents all major UK water suppliers, said the shale gas extraction method posed a threat if not "carefully planned and carried out".

It also warned fracking's "huge" use of water could cause shortages in areas of low supply, like South East England.

Shale gas company Cuadrilla said there were no proven cases of aquifers being contaminated by fracking.

and let those left behind deal with having a water system forever contaminated.

I am sickened to have found a close young male family member is working for one of the "worst" international conglomerates involved in this technology... He's defensive, even mentioning what he's doing and I've not pressed him at all to now, but I think that is indicative. There is no way those most involved in the technology truly believe the "no risk" BS being constantly promoted.

I would think that corporations are further using this technology as a means to privatize water resources.

But that's silly...

This is their trade association complaining their core business could get problems from another business. Originally, they were all publicly listed companies, with customers getting a few shares at a discount price in the privatisation, but now half of them are owned by Hong Kong, Malaysian, and Australian corporations, or by privately-owned British ones.
