Could old tires help fix roads in the Eagle Ford Shale?
By Jennifer Hiller : January 24, 2014 : Updated: January 26, 2014 9:29am

San Antonio — The roads in the Eagle Ford Shale region are a well-documented, widely-complained-about mess.

While the oil boom has created jobs across South Texas, heavy trucks carrying everything from crude oil to drilling rigs have torn apart the region's infrastructure. Chunks of shoulders have broken off, potholes dot the roadways and so-called “alligator” cracks have become common.

Could old tires help fix them?
