Heb Bush - Finding Exciting New Ways To Mislead, Misinform And Lie About Climate!

What is it with Florida Republicans and global warming? The state that has the most at stake in the near future from global warming-related sea level rise — with at least $145 billion in property value precariously lying less than 3 feet above the high-tide line — has a knack for producing politicians who deny the mainstream findings tying the vast majority of recent global warming to manmade emissions of greenhouse gases.

The latest Florida politician to stake out a skeptical position is former Florida governor Jeb Bush, a presumed 2016 presidential candidate. Bush expressed unique views compared to his competitors in the race, but they still run counter to scientific evidence and findings from the national security community. At a house party for about 150 people in Bedford, New Hampshire, Bush was asked about U.S. President Barack Obama's climate change speech on Wednesday, in which the he cast global warming as a "serious" national security threat.

EDIT

According to CNN, Bush said the federal government should focus more on incentivizing additional natural gas production, which has lower greenhouse gas emissions than coal, instead of cracking down on carbon emissions. However, climate scientists are virtually unanimous in saying that steep cuts to carbon emissions will be required in the next few decades to avoid the worst consequences of global warming, including rising seas, melting ice sheets and deadly extreme-weather events. Even natural gas use will eventually have to be slashed to meet globally agreed-upon temperature targets.

"The president's approach is, effectively, reduce economic activity to lower our carbon footprint," Bush said. "That's not what he says, of course, but that's the result of his policies." Bush did not substantiate this claim with any hard numbers, and some data contradicts this view. For example, the economy has grown under Obama, while emissions have decreased. In expressing doubt about the existence of manmade global warming, Bush joins fellow Floridian and 2016 rival Marco Rubio, who told CBS' Bob Schieffer in April that scientists aren't yet sure how big of a problem manmade global warming is.
