BWA-HAHHAHHAHHAH!!!!!

EDIT
The comments came during a day-long conference held by climate sceptic groups at the elegant Hotel California, just off the Champs-Elysees in Paris.
Billed as a "day of examining the data", the meeting of about 15 people got off to a rowdy start when anti-coal protesters from Australia tried to gate-crash it. The opening media conference was also disrupted by heated exchanges between speakers and those supporting the climate summit being held in the northern outskirts of Paris, with ministers and officials from nearly 200 countries attending.
Mr Abbott, who once said the notion that climate science was settled was "absolute crap", but as prime minister said he accepted that humans influenced the climate, had planned to attend the Paris summit before he was deposed by Mr Turnbull in September. "[Mr Abbott] had seen through this global warming thing for what it was," Lord Monckton said. "It's a very nasty totalitarian attempt to set up a kind of global system of governance."
Lord Monckton, who is a hereditary peer but not a member of the British House of Lords, said he had prophesised Mr Abbott's demise a year before it happened because the United Nations "simply couldn't stand the idea that there would be even one stand-out" not accepting climate change was real.

(16,670 posts)What exactly did the UN DO?
Btw, just because homo sapiens will survive global warming, that doesn't mean the civilizations and advancements that homo sapiens has created will survive global warming.
A record-drought kicked off the syrian civil-war...
China and India are preparing to go to war over the water of the Himalaya-glaciers... (This will be "Cold War II".)
A record-drought is killing californian agriculture and depleting groundwater in the Midwest will kill agriculture there within 50 years...

(303 posts)And they will be even less likely to go to war over water in the future since the price of desalination has dropped dramatically in recent years. As an Israeli general once observed, a mere five weeks of armed conflict costs more than a desalination plant.

Earlier this month the UN warned that climate change could spark conflicts over water. But the idea of future 'water wars' is a myth, says Wendy Barnaby.
Neither Egypt, Israel nor Jordan produce enough water for their needs. But while they have fought wars with each other, it has not been over water, says Barnaby. Instead, areas in need of water import food as a 'virtual' boost to water supplies. Tony Allan, a scientist at Kings College London, says more water flows into the Middle East embedded in grain each year than down the Nile to Egyptian farmers.
International agreements also help solve water shortages, says Barnaby. Israeli and Palestinian water professionals cooperate through a Joint Water Committee. Similarly, the Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan helps diffuse tensions over water.
Barnaby argues that although water management will need to adapt in the face of climate change, the basic mechanisms of trade, international agreements and economic development that currently ease water shortages will persist.

(16,670 posts)New Delhi is 800 km away from the sea. No way you can supply that city with desalinated sea-water.
Just google "China India water dispute".

(303 posts)War just isn't worth it. Even if you 'win' the war, it doesn't guarantee the safety of your water supply in the future.

(16,670 posts)I recently saw a documentary on that. India knows it would lose an actual war with China, but they hope to be such a military threat to China that a war would escalate into mutually-assured-destruction, thereby preventing an outbreak of real violence.
