I cut my electrical bill by $20 a month by just wearing thermal socks and underwear all

through the cold months. This is just in a one bedroom apartment, so would be more for larger dwellings.

I got six pair for about $13 apiece at Costco last year. They are so light and comfortable, I even wear them as jammies. I turn the heat completely off at bedtime. It's nice to have those on if I have to get up to use the bathroom, and in the morning before the place warms up.

I don't make myself endure a chilly apartment all winter. I'm perfectly comfortable and warm, but it's at least ten degrees cooler in here that I used to keep it.

When we switched all our lights with incandescent bulbs over to LEDs. This move helps on multiple fronts, your home is cooler, meaning your A/C doesn't work as hard in the summer, and they last longer, meaning there is less glass and metal going to landfills if you're in an area that does not recycle.
