It was delicious - fed all four of us with some leftover.

Didn't know there was a vegan forum. I will have to stop by from time to time.

I had one several years ago when I first tried fake meat....not sure why anyone bothers...there are plenty of vegan food options without seeking out some overprocessed nasty fake meat....and if one does go for the fake meat, it's odd that anyone would be surprised when it tastes weird....it all tastes weird...

Celebration Roast tastes EXCELLENT. It does not taste weird.

Once I went full vegan, I discovered that my palate changed, utterly. Food became much more of a perfect drug -- I still get high from kale.

Perhaps you're still dabbling in flesh? That could be why it tastes 'weird' to you.

I suppose the epiphany I would wish for you would be one in which you realized that broad sarcastic snark hurts other people, and that contributing information and opinion without subconsciously transmitting personal angst and rage is a better way to be.

But -- lately, that's what this place is about, beaming out sarcastic fear and rage. I get it.

I view it as direct, immediate observation of the op. I cook for a living including for several vegetarian and vegan diets. I read this forum with some regularity and get some good information. One of my quirky peeves is the regular discussion of imitation meats. I don't get it....the necessity to have fake meat that is...I make a few dishes that have a nutritional value, texture and savory flavors that rounds out a starch and vegetable plate....just don't claim it to be a meat substitute...I call it what it is...

I have never one time eaten any vegan meat that didn't require a fair amount of imagination and willingness to kid one's self....pretending may be the best description of what would be needed to believe it tastes and/or has the texure of meat, so in that respect it does taste
weird...Im sure it tastes perfectly good for a loaf of vegetables and spices....it tastes weird if you are trying to convince me it is meat...

One, everything Gardein makes is %^$%^ incredible to me. Their beef tips especially. Sautéed with an orange sauce and ladled over steamed green beans -- just writing that makes me hungry. Their grill burgers, battered fish filets -- they're god-like.

Two, the diet changes the palate. I used to blanche at the taste of tofu in everything, and couldn't stand soymilk. It's completely different for me now. Eight Continent soymilk is the richest, creamiest substance ever made. Fried tofu is guilty heaven.

Truthfully, I don't get the time to cook, otherwise I'd probably never use fake meat at all. If I had a personal chef or the time, it would be admittedly healthier to abstain from the practice. A vegan friend of mine has the time and skill, and dabbles rarely in the practice of fake meat.

Palate. The palate changes. Took about a year. Everything tastes different, and has a more direct physical impact on me. Kale. Good lord, kale is the BOMB. I freaking love kale. Can't go to sleep on the couch after kale. Have to do pushups and take the dog for a walk.

Kale.

and their by products it's all good and eating fruits vegetables and grains or eating those plus fake meat and lots of dark chocolate and oreos are both good choices instead of the meat, dairy and eggs.

I was interested in getting one because I generally enjoy anything with a ton of mushrooms, but I try to keep saltiness to a minimum since half the family is on salt restricted medical diets.

Their maple sausages are the bomb. And sliced Celebration Roast fried in a pan -- heaven.
