A US federal grand jury has indicted an Australian geneticist to stand trial on charges of attempted child sex trafficking and travelling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
The secret jury handed down its decision on Michael Quinn in the US district court in Los Angeles on 17 June, but the indictment was made public only on Monday.
Quinn has not been convicted but must stand trial in relation to the charges against him.
The 33-year-old, who was holidaying in the US and was to play in a tournament with his Melbourne Chargers rugby team, faces life in jail if convicted of the attempted sex trafficking of a minor charge.
