Japan city sends letter to Berlin district head demanding removal of 'comfort women' statue

NAGOYA -- The government of this central Japan city announced on Nov. 5 that it has sent a letter to the head of a district in Berlin demanding the removal of a statue of a girl symbolizing "comfort women."

The statue was set up on public land in the Mitte district of Berlin by a pro-South Korea civic group. District Mayor Stephan von Dassel once ordered the removal of the statue but then decided to accept it for the time being.

The letter has been sent in the name of Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura...
