Queen Elizabeth Cancels Trip, Rests on Medical Advice
LONDON—Queen Elizabeth canceled a trip to Northern Ireland after doctors advised her to rest for a few days, a rare case in which Britain’s longest-serving monarch has had to step back from public duties owing to ill health.
Buckingham Palace said the 95-year-old was in “good spirits” and that she looked forward to visiting Northern Ireland “in the future.” She doesn’t have Covid-19 and isn’t seriously ill, according to one official familiar with the matter.
The queen was on Tuesday night photographed meeting and smiling with business leaders at Windsor Castle.
The monarch has had a packed schedule of late, attending the horse racing at Ascot over the weekend and holding several audiences, including meeting the European Union’s ambassador to the U.K. on Tuesday.
