Dozens killed in Nigeria cattle market attack

Sectarian violence has claimed dozens more lives in Nigeria in a spate of killings across the country.

Almost 60 people are reported to have died in an attack on a cattle market in the north, while at least 11 were killed near the central town of Jos. Witnesses say armed nomadic herdsmen invaded several outlying villages shooting people and burning homes and churches.

The attack on Potiskum took an even heavier toll. Gunmen are said to have thrown bombs and opened fire on crowds at the bustling market. Dozens more were injured.
