(61,033 posts)their middling level economy/country. I guess because they have the largest land mass, much of it useless tundra, they think it's them against the rest of the world and they are equal in power.
They should know better after Putin's failed gambit into Ukraine has shown their once-vaunted army to be only second, maybe just third rate.

(9,689 posts)Well their economy is almost as big as Italy's, or at least was until all the sanctions. Of course, they don't produce the famous brands and labels that the Italians do. And they have 2 1/2 times Italy's population. Think bombs and tanks broken down on the side of the road.

(61,033 posts)was considered so powerful and the counter balance to the US. Turns out that was more illusion than fact as the arms race broke them and the Soviet Union fell apart.
If they would stop invading other countriesmost recently Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya, Afghanistan maybe they could build an economy commensurate to what they envision theirs to be.
They should also get rid of the guy in the Kremlin who sees himself as Peter the Great 2.0.
