The United States reportedly is going to great lengths to replenish the dwindling ammunition supply for Ukraines biggest artillery.
According to Greek newspaper Ekathimerini, the U.S. government is in talks with the Greek government to buy, for onward transfer to the Ukrainian government, 75,000 artillery rounds.
The $47-million deal would include 50,000 105-millimeter shells, 20,000 155-millimeter shells and 5,000 203-millimeter shells.

The tracked 2S7 is the biggest gun on either side of Russias wider war on Ukraine. The Ukrainian armys 43rd Artillery Brigade, the sole user of the 50-ton 2S7, has plenty of howitzers. What it doesnt have ... is enough shells.

That's about an eight inch diameter shell. The US used to use those but I believe 155 mm is the largest the US military uses now.

(1,925 posts)The last 203mm we had were the M110's I think, and they got retired after the Gulf War I believe. MLRS took over the heavy artillery role.
