Russia recently announced a new wave of mobilization, with a notably different intent than those preceding it. It appears that the Kremlin now aims to protect key installations throughout the country by having reservists fire large caliber weapons at approaching drones. Today, we look at the Kremlin's comparable mobilizations decisions and why this path comes with an unknown political risk.

Having poorly trained reservists firing large caliber weapons at aerial targets will likely lead to deaths on the ground from said friendly fire or at least an increase in the number of leaky roofs. Even the Russians must know the bullets don't just keep going out into space when you miss your target.
