Shots Spark Shutdown - Joe Blogs

The situation in the war in Iran has escalated dramatically over the last 24 hours after the United States fired on and seized an Iranian cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

This was not a military vessel — it was a commercial ship carrying Iranian exports. Video footage circulating online appears to show the moment US forces intercepted the vessel, issued warnings, and then opened fire, disabling the ship before boarding and taking control.

This marks a significant escalation.

At the same time, hopes of a ceasefire deal are fading fast. Iran has indicated it will not attend upcoming talks, and tensions are rising following increasingly aggressive rhetoric from Donald Trump, who warned of severe consequences if a deal is not agreed.

The Strait of Hormuz — already under pressure — now appears to be effectively shut down again, disrupting global shipping and raising serious concerns about energy supply, inflation, and the wider global economy.

We’ve already seen an estimated $50 billion impact from this conflict so far… and this latest escalation could push that figure significantly higher.

In this video, I break down:

• What actually happened with the cargo ship
• Why this represents a major escalation
• What it means for the ceasefire talks
• The risk of retaliation from Iran
• And the potential impact on the global economy
