Russia's Economy Just Entered a Death Spiral - Jason Jay Smart
Putin is facing a growing problem that extends far beyond the battlefield: Ukraine is systematically targeting the infrastructure Russia needs to sustain both its war effort and its economy. Fuel depots, oil terminals, refineries, and strategic military assets are coming under attack across Crimea and deep inside Russia.
From Crimea to Saratov and Rostov, Ukraine is striking assets Russia cannot easily replace. Damage to fuel infrastructure, declining refining capacity, and repeated attacks on critical facilities are increasing pressure on both the Russian military and the economy behind it.
The Kremlin's challenge is simple: the front line can remain stable while the systems supporting it begin to fail. Putin needs Russia to appear strong and in control. Ukraine is forcing a different reality: damaged infrastructure, growing economic strain, and a war that is reaching deeper into Russia with every passing week.
