Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on Friday endorsed Senator Marco Rubios amendment that would make Iran recognize Israel as a condition for any deal.
Speaking at the National Review Institute Ideas Summit in DC, Jindal, a potential presidential candidate, called it a common sense amendment that is trying to salvage a very bad deal with Iran. He went a step further in conditioning the deal with Iran recognizing Israel as a Jewish State, something even Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not think of suggesting.
I think the senate needs to adopt these amendments. This is an important issue, he said. If senators really want to go ahead and vote against it, if senators really think its OK for Iran to sponsor terrorism and its OK for Iran not to recognize the state of Israel, I want to hear them make that argument, and I want to see them take that vote. I think its ridiculous for the White House to threaten with a veto.
I wish the President would negotiate as tough with Iran as hes on the U.S. Senate, he added.

(25,699 posts)Iran was of course the second nation in the world after the Us to extend recognition to Israel... in accordance with Israel's declaration in 1948. Those borders are... quite a bit different than the territory Israel is claiming today, as I've gone over before.
if Israel can claim its borders are "nonexistant" as many seem to think, then couldn't Iran just say "we recognize Israel, within borders created by the South Sandwich Islands"?

(58,724 posts)That the borders of such a country are not completely determined was not necessary for doing so.
And, of course, Iran was not the second nation to recognize Israel.
Where do you get this nonsense from?

(42,641 posts)The close friendship with the United States has been the linchpin of Israeli foreign policy for decades. From the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 until the Iranian Revolution and the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty in 1979, Israel and Iran maintained close ties. Iran was the second Muslim-majority country to recognize Israel as a sovereign nation after Turkey.[2][3] In the mid-20th century, Israel ran extensive foreign aid and educational programs in Africa, sending experts in agriculture, water management and health care.[4]
