In the latest report Amnesty says that Hamas forces committed the abuses during Israel's 50-day military offensive against Gaza, which began on 8 July and ended on 26 August 2014.
According to the report, at least 23 Palestinians were subjected to summary, extra-judicial executions. Most were already in prison, accused of acting for Israel, it says.
In addition "perceived political opponents" of Hamas were abducted, tortured or assaulted - "particularly members of the rival Fatah party and former members of the Palestinian Authority security forces in Gaza".
In one incident six men were shot dead outside a mosque as they knelt in hoods in front of a crowd of men, women, and children, the report says.

(58,724 posts)Are they not responsible for the deaths of innocent Palestinian civilians?
What would be an appropriate punishment for them?

(25,699 posts)Extrajudicial executions aren't any good.

(25,699 posts)Spying is not such an exception, for me.
But it is for a great number of governments, it seems

Commenting on the Amnesty report, Salah Al-Bardaweel, Hamas official spokesman, called it unjust and unfair, adding that its release in this way reveals the truth about the work of this organisation, which includes in its administration Israeli employees.
Is that a legit concern?

(58,724 posts)I was asking if you think this Amnesty report is legit or do you think it might be less than completely fair and accurate.

(25,699 posts)It can be legitimate even while having inaccuracies.
If you're asking if if i think it's inaccurte? I dunno, I haven't read the report.
I realize that both Hamas and Israel apparently think amnesty is always full of shit, which to me, lends at least some amount of credence to the organization.

(30,109 posts)1. Amnesty acknowledges that Hamas rockets killed Palestinians.
2. Amnesty acknowledges Hamas used hospitals (like Shifa) to interrogate, torture, etc.
Makes it a little harder for the haters to claim Israel was responsible for all civilian deaths, or that they targeted civilian infrastructure unlawfully.
They've also acknowledged Hamas' human shielding.

(30,109 posts)Hard to believe that 500 rockets falling short caused only 23 deaths considering how densely populated Gaza is.
