NY Jewish Congressman Slammed as 'Traitor' and 'anti-Israel' for Backing Iran Deal

The demonization is being led by a Kahanist and unrepentant JDL terrorist who's one of the most powerful Democrats in the state, Dov Hikind.

http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/.premium-1.672695

While he has received emails and phone calls of support, he said, vociferous attacks have come from the religiously and politically conservative precincts of Borough Park in particular. New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind rented a double-decker bus on which he hung a sarcastic banner bearing Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s smiling visage thanking America, and parked it outside Nadler’s Manhattan office.

Hikind has also threatened to raise millions of dollars to fund the primary campaign of someone who can beat Nadler in the next election.

City Council member David Greenfield, who represents the same community, tweeted “BK constituents outraged at his support of Iran deal & believe he lied to us” when he said earlier that his mind was not yet made up.

“Someone said I turned my back on klal Yisroel [the Jewish people] in tweets, in speeches. We are told a rabbi in shul compared me to the rabbis who approached President Roosevelt and told him not to admit Jewish refugees” from the Holocaust to America, said Nadler.

Someone else described his decision as “one of the most tragic betrayals” of the Jewish people, relayed Nadler.

“The political consequences are concerning, but I had to. How could I live with myself If I voted against it knowing that would increase the chances of a bomb in Iranian hands? How could I do that?”

so long as it doesn't offend AIPAC and its funders.

That is not freedom. Quite the opposite.

Nothing to do with principles and everything to do with the Lobby.

Israel is a rightwing racist country. Supporting it is a Republican principle and a Democratic pragmatic necessity.

Republicans support it because of shared value. Democrats support it for a variety of reasons, some principled others not.

http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-losing-democrats-cant-claim-bipartisan-us-support-top-pollster-warns/

Three quarters of highly educated, high income, publicly active US Democrats — the so-called “opinion elites” — believe Israel has too much influence on US foreign policy, almost half of them consider Israel to be a racist country, and fewer than half of them believe that Israel wants peace with its neighbors. These are among the findings of a new survey carried out by US political consultant Frank Luntz.

Detailing the survey results to The Times of Israel on Sunday, Luntz called the findings “a disaster” for Israel. He summed them up by saying that the Democratic opinion elites are converting to the Palestinians, and “Israel can no longer claim to have the bipartisan support of America.”

You think the Democratic Party exists to serve Israel moreso than the United States.

You need a civics lesson.

The US is an independent country. The role of its parties is to serve the interests of Americans, not a bunch of foreigners on the other side of the planet.

Certainly there are some Israel Firsters who disagree with me, but fuck them.

Frank I. Luntz (born February 23, 1962) is an American political consultant,[2] pollster, and "public opinion guru"[3] best known for developing talking points and other messaging for various Republican causes. His work has included assistance with messaging for Newt Gingrich's Contract with America, promotion of the terms death tax instead of estate tax and climate change instead of global warming, and public relations support for pro-Israel policies in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Luntz's most recent work has been with the Fox News Channel as a frequent commentator and analyst, as well as running focus groups during and after presidential debates. Luntz describes his specialty as “testing language and finding words that will help his clients sell their product or turn public opinion on an issue or a candidate.”[4] He is also an author of business books dealing with communication strategies and public opinion. Luntz's current company, Luntz Global, LLC, specializes in message creation and image management for commercial and political clients.

Democrats with close ties to AIPAC / Israel politically are coming out against the treaty, that's all that is going on.

In reading thru the thread, I see some of the old guard pro-Israel posters claiming support of Israel to be some sort of Democratic litmus test. Lol, Democrats argue among each other on every issue...comes with the big tent. If they want unity, they should be on a Republican blog.

Most demonizing activities of treaty supporters are simply hyper-partisan advocating for Israel. I ignore them because they're just not about our country. Thankfully, AIPAC's influence is not so extensive it keeps the treaty from being ratified.
