Red Crescent Declares Emergency State in West Bank

In light of settlers’ flare-up of violence across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, the Palestinian Red Crescent raised the alert status across the West Bank to third degree, declaring a ‘State of Emergency.

The Palestinian Red Crescent activated its central operations room at its headquarter in al-Bireh/Ramallah as well as mobilized all volunteers and teams to provide relief to Palestinians against the backdrop of escalated recent settlers’ violence against Palestinians and their properties.

Israeli settlers late Saturday and Sunday – following two separate killing incidents of Israelis by Palestinian suspects - went on a revenge rampage, under the protection of Israeli army forces , against Palestinian civilians and their properties, leading to violent clashes across the West Bank districts, which left dozens of injuries and suffocation cases among Palestinian locals.

The Red Crescent said it has documented 14 Israeli settlers and forces’ assaults against its staff members within the past 72 hours across the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

1. Seven Injured with Live Ammunition during Nablus Village Clashes
Mon Oct 5, 2015, 05:37 AM
Oct 2015

At least seven Palestinians were injured with live ammunition used by the Israeli army during confrontations in the village of Urif, to the south of Nablus, on Sunday, security sources told WAFA.

The clashes erupted after Jewish extremists set fire to an agricultural land belonging to Palestinians near the village.

The wounded were identified as Khaled, Yousef, Mahmoud, Mohammad, Sultan, Aamer, and Ahmad Safadi.

The latest escalation in violence by settlers came in the aftermath of the Israeli attempts to divide al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam's third holiest place, between Muslims and Jews and the recent heinous murder against Dawabsheh family in Duma, during which four-year-old Ahmad lost his mother, father and 18-month-old brother Ali in a deliberate arson attack.

Hopefully one can see that Wafa is the Palestinian equivalent of Israel National News but on the other side.

Oct 2015

Israeli soldiers Monday shot dead a Palestinian child during confrontations with youths in the Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem, less than 24 hours after another Palestinian youth was killed by the Israeli army in Tulkarm, according to security sources.

Medical sources said 13-year-old Abdul-Rahman Shadi Mustafa was seriously injured when Israeli soldiers shot him with live ammunition. He was transferred to a nearby hospital before he succumbed to his wounds during a surgery to save his life.

Meanwhile, two other Palestinians were injured with live bullets in the thigh bone during the same confrontations.

This came hours after a Palestinian youth was shot dead by the Israeli army during confrontations in the village of Bal’a near Tulkarm.

4. WATCH: Settlers hurl burning tires, boulders at Palestinians
Mon Oct 5, 2015, 02:46 PM
Oct 2015

Israeli settlers carried out dozens of violent attacks across the West Bank over the past two days in the wake of the murders of four Israeli civilians by Palestinians.

In the northern West Bank village of Bur’in masked settlers were filmed rolling boulders and burning tires down a hill toward Palestinians.

Groups of settlers, at times accompanied by the Israeli army, threw stones at and attacked Palestinian residents, who threw stones back at them. The settlers also set fire to a number of Palestinian-owned agricultural fields.

The soldiers did nothing to stop the settler attacks, instead choosing to shoot tear gas, rubber bullets — and reportedly live ammunition — against the Palestinians defending their property.
