Hillary Clinton expresses alarm for Israeli Jews, and not one word about Palestinian victims

http://mondoweiss.net/2015/10/hillary-clinton-palestinians

(HRC quote transcribed from pic)

“I am alarmed by the recent wave of attacks against Israelis, including more than a dozen separate attacks since last Saturday. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Men and women living in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and elsewhere cannot carry groceries or travel to prayer without looking over their shoulder. It is wrong, and it must stop. There's no place for violence--only dialogue can produce a lasting peace.”

There is not a word in that statement about Palestinians, dozens of whom have been killed in recent days. There is not even a signal in this statement that Palestinians living under occupation for nearly 50 years might have a right to resist. The entire statement is from the standpoint of Israeli Jews. Notice the empathy, the comment about praying and looking over your shoulder.

If you want to understand why American politics is busted, and how far we have to go in changing the discourse, you need only read that statement. And yes: this statement is pitched to an American audience, of donors. In a word, Haim Saban. (It also explains why neoconservatism isn’t going away anytime soon; because neoconservatism is a hardline Zionist response to Middle East politics, and there are hardline Zionists inside the Democratic Party.)

American politics is busted.

Israeli Zionism is busted.

so I will address the DU audience.

I will be voting for Bernie, not because he is perfect, but because he will be the best candidate to beat the republicans and corporate third way, Wall Street enriching Democrats: bringing about some decent social values where we need them.

Democracy is messy, and I can only speak for myself but there is no politician that I believe in 100% that will do everything that I hope for or ask for...possibly not even 75%.

On the other hand, some people believe, or so say they believe, in their chosen candidate of the moment 100%, the Democratic party 100%, and god love em for being so willingly blinded by dogma that their candidates or party are above criticism.

But then there’s reality.

Politicians from time to time ask us to hold their feet to the fire. Sometimes they mean it, but it is not for them to ask us. It is up to us to do it to be part of a Democracy and hold their feet to the fire; regardless of whether or not the bottom feeders of their personality cults take offense.

Democracy is messy, and the best way to ensure that a vibrant Democracy continues is with We the People who are not afraid to question our leaders, or leaders to be, instead cultish fawning over photos of them and clutching at pearls when they hear mild criticism.

That being said, what you read in the article critical of Senator Sanders is fairly tame. There is no scathing attack. The criticism is fair, IMHO, regarding most US Politicians that would turn a blind eye to keep our base of operations in the Mid East secure.

https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:Franklin_D._Roosevelt

Secretary of State, Sumner Welles, once said “Somoza’s a bastard!” And Roosevelt replied, “Yes, but he’s our bastard.”

The Same could be said of Israel,. They’re our bastard but for how much longer?

Hopefully with a Sanders Presidency we will see some change, and I will look forward to holding his feet to the fire, instead of fawning adoration.

Now if anybody actually lifted a finger and took the time to read the article on Couter they would have been mildly surprised to read the headline, “Coulter’s point is that Republicans pander on Israel to win donors, not voters.”, which is not an atrocious thing to write. All the adults know that.

It is in fact, the truth, and Coulter is just doing what Trump has been doing: saying the things that republicans think and whisper to each other, but just not broadcast to the world. I would rather have them say it and know what they are.

To quote Phillip Weiss:

"This is what democratic discourse is all about: an informed public engaging on important questions, some of which have been suppressed."

And that’s it in a nutshell. Some "Israel-right or wrong" promoters are incensed that Mondoweiss, or any news outlet that has the stones to be critical of Israel, is allowed to be posted within I/P.

They will do everything in their power to censor what they do not want other to see, hear or read that is critical of Israel, it’s state of apartheid, and how it effects American politics.

So thank you Mondoweiss, and 972Mag, and B'tselem, and Ma'an News, and Ynet News, and The Jerusalem Post, and The Guardian and all the other news outlets that will not hide from the truth or the censorship of ant-Democratic forces.

Many people seem to like Mondoweiss, and there's nothing on that site that would suggest that they're bigots or right-wing nasties. It would be much better if you had something substantial to add to the OP, for example you could try to find and post statements from HRC that would suggest that she's not completely one-sided on the I/P issue...
