Pro-Hamas students holed up at Bir Zeit University

More than a dozen students staying on campus since May 5 for fear of arrest by PA

IR ZEIT, West Bank (AP) — At 26, Saed Qasrawi is among the oldest students at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank.

The leading Hamas activist has been enrolled for eight years, but he has been unable to complete his undergraduate engineering program because he keeps getting detained by Palestinian security forces before final exams.

This year, Qasrawi and more than a dozen other supporters of the Islamic militant group tried a new tactic. Since May 5, they’ve remained on campus — a sanctuary considered off limits to the security forces — to evade arrest.

Even with the tests over, the students are staying on, sleeping on mattresses in the enclosed foyer of the campus ATM machine because they fear they’ll be picked up if they leave.

Hamas student activists say President Mahmoud Abbas’ security forces keep harassing them, despite new attempts by him and his Hamas rivals to reconcile and end five years of separate governments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Seems to be all about how Mahmoud Abbas is trying to effectively erase any political opposition.

Where do you get that Israel is to blame?

*cough*

No, really, where do you get "blame Israel" from this article? 'Cause... it's just not there. You're just inserting it yourself, as if you believe it just needs to be there, even if you have to cram it in yourself for no reason at all.

Is it that you just have some sort of need for someone to run around blaming Israel at all times? Do we need to stage an intervention?

Nobody's blaming Israel there. Doing so yourself just makes you look like a comedian with a really bad routine. it's kind of dumb.

I guess what I'm saying is...

You have all the wit of a Mallard Filmore Strip here. Except Bruce Tinsley gets paid for it.

Look, if you want to gin up some faked outrage about how "Israel is always blamed for everything," fine, that's pretty much what this entire group is for, go wild. But, just for the sake of consistency, find an article that at least -mentions- Israel to editorialize on.

What does corporate bastardization of efforts to cure breast cancer have to do with anything?

Kinda random.

Pinkwasher: (pink’-wah-sher) noun. A company or organization that claims to care about breast cancer by promoting a pink ribbon product, but at the same time produces, manufactures and/or sells products that are linked to the disease.
