Palestinian Editor-in-chief: Jews only safe under Arab rule

Editor-in-Chief of Maan News, in utterly bizarre rant, re-writes Jewish history and claims Mufti of Jerusalem protected Jews.

The Editor-in-Chief of a major Palestinian news network, Maan News Agency, has delivered an astonishing monologue in which he denies Jewish rights to an independent state and declares that Jews will only ever be secure under Arab rule.

Dr. Nasser al-Laham delivered his three-minute-long statement last Wednesday on Maan Network Online, which has since been translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

Maan News Agency is one of the largest in the Palestinian Authority, and claims to be independent of any political factions.

Somewhat confusingly, al-Laham zig-zags between validating Jewish history as outlined in the Bible and elsewhere, while simultaneously denying any "Jewish identity" or claims to the Land of Israel.

And that this makes any Jewish state unacceptable. This is repeatedly the basis of statements of the top leaders of many Muslim countries, along with widely held abject Jew hatred and frequent calls for killing of some or all Jews from these quarters and from Muslim religious leaders and civil society. The anti-semitic shit they have in classrooms and on their news in many cases is pathological. In the west, moral equivalence is applied and all these statements are ignored or, if absolutely undeniable, treated as fringe. That this is the mainstream view is very important in the search for peace. Failure to,acknowledge it is why efforts by outsiders to facilitate peace talks have been fruitless.
