Legal complaint made against pro-BDS prof. who snubbed Israeli schoolgirl

A anti-Semitism watchdog organization in the United Kingdom has filed a complaint with the police against Marsha Levine, the British-American former Cambridge University professor who rebuffed a request for information from an Israeli schoolgirl, citing Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism filed the complaint with the Cambridgeshire Constabulary following the recent media storm that erupted when the mother of 13-year-old Shachar Rabinovitch posted a message on Facebook detailing Levine’s response to an email from her daughter.

Campaign Against Antisemitism is a year-old charity organization founded to research and monitor anti-Semitism in the UK. It also engages in raising awareness and strengthening education about anti-Semitism. The organization, which does not operate under the Board of Deputies of British Jews, is run entirely by five volunteers from various fields of expertise, with the support of an additional 200 volunteers.

According to Sacerdoti, the organization seeks legal counsel when it suspects that the law may have been broken, and it takes action if advised to do so.

1. On what basis???

Yes, Levine's conduct is childish... and yes, there are anti-boycott laws in the news in the UK, and anti-discrimination laws... but how could they possibly apply to this case?

If the professor had a side business that charged 50p/question to students and refused to do business with a particular student - that might be something, but that isn't the case here.

3. I'm not familiar with the laws of the UK. They're looking at her statements to Nazis too perhaps?

I felt the professor exhibited terrible judgement and it was plain stupid, even
if she believed she was set up, which seems like a serious stretch..so what?
She failed regardless...it was mean spirited and I guess she is not going to
explain how she thought her actions would help the Palestinians.

The response to things like this may be an over reach on the part of this group,
best to expose her idiocy which has been done and move on.

Brave advertisers on a site advocating boycotts... Hopefully realize that boycotts can work in 2 directions.

This will be fun.

10. Oh no, I'm an anti-Semite!

I just visited the The Campaign Against Antisemitism website and read their definition of anti-Semitism, and it seems as if I'm an anti-Semite by their definition: (https://antisemitism.uk/information/definition-of-antisemitism/). This is stupid, I really don't feel like an anti-Semite just because I'm critical of Israel and the supposed Jewish right to self-determination. I don't even feel anti-Semitic when I call Netanyahu a Hitler apologizing racist POS who abuses the memory of the Holocaust in any way he can.

I define anti-Semitism as antipathy towards Jews, and nothing else. It works really fine for me.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism will of course fail in their silly endeavour. Perhaps they should change their name to the "Campaign Against Criticism of Israel" instead...
