Defense Minister Ya'alon: Extremist Elements Have Taken Over Israel (Resigns)

Extremist elements have taken over the country, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon warned on Friday morning as he explained his resignation from political life.

"This morning I told the prime minister that I'm resigning from the government and the Knesset and taking a break from political life," Ya'alon said at the IDF's military quarters in Tel Aviv. "I have no intention of leaving the public and political life, and in the future will return to compete for the national leadership of Israel."

"I saw before me the safety of Israel and its citizens in all of my acts and decisions, and the good of the country above all other considerations. This was so in security and professionals matters and in matters of values and rule of the law."

Earlier on Friday, Ya'alon wrote on Facebook that "I notified the prime minister this morning that following his conduct in the latest developments and in view of the lack of trust in him, I am resigning from the government and the Knesset and taking time out from political life."

Extremist Elements Have Taken Over Israel cali.

All they want to discuss is antisemitism/antizionism and how wonderful it is " Elton John promises a ‘wonderful, crazy’ night in Tel Aviv " ........ and what happened many moons/decades ago .

Nobody amongst the American Zionists on here gives a damn about what is happening to us .

This group has become a carbon copy of this group :

It's frustrating believing that you the only righteous Jew around.
It's frustrating thinking that one is the only Jew in the group that is able to get along with non-Jews ( bizzaro theory being the only one in the group that doesn't really mix with Gentiles at all)
Frustrating thinking that all other Jews do nothing t get it but you alone do..
Frustrating treating other Jews with contempt because you alone understand and we do not and only you AlONE are able to align with the non Jews.
Because you on your tiny little isolated kibbutz far away from any city is more worldly than those of us in NYC and Miami.

How frustrating for you ....

The Israel haters don't want to hear and don't give a damn about extreme Leftists & their Jew hating terrorist friends on the far Islamist Right.

As to the OP, what do you expect to see here? You'll see agreement among the American Zionists, but no long, hand wringing missives about how Israel is going down the toilet & becoming fascist (as we've repeatedly heard for decades & it has yet to happen).

Compared to other western liberal democracies, Israel is doing just fine. No other liberal western democracy would do any better than Israel given what Israel has had to put up with for the past 70 years. For example, the US and UK have been in a constant state of war going back more than a decade (100's of thousands dead, war crimes galore) on foreign land 1000's of miles away, when American/UK people haven't been under any threat whatsoever (unlike in Israel WRT rockets or tunnels). In Israel's shoes, they'd have nuked all Israel's neighbors 10x over by now, so.... what do you expect to hear from people who are able to put I/P into proper perspective?

People like Avigdor Liberman, Ayelet Shaked, Uri Ariel, Miri Regev, and Naftali Bennett could easily be defined as fascists, the rest of the ministers in the government, including Benjamin Netanyahu could be defined as "only" right-wing racists. The only thing that stops these despicable individuals from having their way with Israel is because Israel is still a democracy, and there are institutional safeguards that protects Israel from its government. However, these safeguards are constantly attacked, and while Israel has adequate (I hope) protection in the Basic Laws, the A-G and the Supreme Court, I don't know if this will always be the case in the future.

Ya'alon is right - extremist elements have indeed taken over Israel.
