There's a disturbing rise in anti-semitic assaults in the US

At the historically progressive University of California at Berkeley, the words "Zionists should be sent to the gas chamber" were scrawled in a campus bathroom. At Yale University, a sign noting that "YALE IS A JEW HOLE –LET'S ROUND THEM UP" was found posted near the university's Connecticut campus. At UC Davis, swastikas were spray-painted on the side of a Jewish fraternity house on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

These are just three of the nearly 100 anti-semitic incidents reported on college campuses across the country in 2015, a year marked by a 91 percent spike in anti-Jewish rhetoric and crimes at some of the country's most liberal and progressive schools, according to a new report. But beyond the walls of these learning institutions, the general public has also taken a hit, with its own rise in anti-semitic incidents, according to The Anti-Defamation League, which released its annual audit on Tuesday. And the internet, along with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, served as a conduit for the dramatic spike in hateful language and violence against people in the Jewish community.

I'm posting this here because what's going on on college campuses could be laid right at the feet of the vile bds movement.

Your question "besides Bernie" indicates you're questioning whether any other Jews were attacked other than Bernie. It's a PERFECTLY reasonable assumption on my part. YOU put the words in your question.

rhetorical question
noun
a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer: the presentation was characterized by impossibly long sentences and a succession of rhetorical questions | Is nothing sacred? That's a rhetorical question, BTW.

Seems to me that it's just as easily laid at the feet of politicians who have made hate fashionable again.

Trump et al. may have made it worse, but the trend precedes Trump.

It's empowering to be hateful, and since they're absolved of any condemnation for it (because they don't have power) they figure it's fine. Diversity of opinions and all that, coupled with a lack of public/private distinction and no filter between thinking something and saying it.

The commons of social trust is quickly being pulled up by its roots.

Anti-Semitic Incidents on American College Campuses Nearly Doubled

New York, NY, June 22, 2016 … The number of violent anti-Semitic assaults taking place in the United States rose dramatically last year, contributing to a three (3) percent rise in the total number of anti-Jewish incidents reported in 2015, according to new data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

ADL’s annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, issued today, recorded a total of 941 incidents in the U.S. in 2015, an increase of about 3 percent from the 912 incidents recorded in 2014.

Fifty-six incidents were assaults, the most violent anti-Semitic category – representing a more than 50 percent rise from the 36 assaults reported in 2014.

Another troubling finding: anti-Semitic incidents at colleges and universities nearly doubled last year. A total of 90 incidents were reported on 60 college campuses in 2015, compared with 47 incidents on 43 campuses in 2014.

Campus anti-Semitic incidents accounted for 10 percent of the total incidents reported in the U.S. in 2015.

Everytime bds is in the news these days, it concerns more bullshit from one of their followers. They've accomplished nothing but good old fashioned Jew hatred. They're vile.

New report shows UC system leads national trend of discrimination against Jewish students

By Shani Shahmoon • 06/23/16 3:00pm

For nearly a decade, incidents of anti-Semitism have been on the rise in the University of California system and numerous other colleges in the Golden State. Some say California colleges make more headlines about incidents of anti-Semitism than for academic or athletic achievements. The most recent academic year was no exception.

According to the anti-Semitism watchdog group AMCHA Initiative, 69 anti-Semitic incidents occurred on 20 different California campuses during the recent academic year. UC Berkley led the way with eight instances, followed by UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz with seven each.

“When it comes to anti-Semitism, California schools continue to top the list, both in number and severity. To those of us closely monitoring the rise of campus anti-Semitism over the past few years, this comes as no surprise, since many California schools were ground zero for the campus anti-Zionism movement,” explained AMCHA Director Tammi Rossman-Benjamin. “Examination after examination demonstrate a direct connection between anti-Zionist activities on campus and acts of anti-Jewish hostility. The problem is not going away. In fact, it’s picking up steam and must be addressed immediately.”

15. Student union in payout over anti-semitic abuse

Tom Corbyn, son of Jeremy Corbyn, has not yet apologized for his racist behavior....

The student union at York University has become the first in the country to make a public apology and offer a four-figure sum to a Jewish student who complained of anti-semitism.

Zachary Confino, 21, a law student, suffered stress and narrowly missed a first-class degree, after two years of battling with anti-Israeli students at York University.

This week, after the intervention of the universities minister, Jo Johnson, he will accept a written apology from the university’s student union over his treatment.

The apology, brokered by the university’s registrar, will be published online and Confino will receive a sum understood to…
