Hamas flagship university grooms Hebrew teachers

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas' flagship university in Gaza has a new diploma on offer — Hebrew, the official language of its arch-foe Israel.

Gaza's Hamas rulers say they want to produce qualified teachers as the government gradually introduces Hebrew studies in its high schools. The aim is simple: It wants Palestinians in Gaza to learn their enemy's language.

"As Jews are occupying our lands, we have to understand their language," said Education Ministry official Somayia Nakhala.

Weird how the official said "Jews" and not "Israelis" or "Zionists".

1. In fact, Israel insists that everyone recognize it as a Jewish State.

So there's nothing strange in using the term 'Jew', since the Jews of Israel do in fact speak the Hebrew language. Why not? The term 'Jew', like the term 'Arab', is hardly an insult.

Also, since more than half Gaza's population are refugees from this self-declared Jewish State, it makes perfect sense that some of Gaza's educational institutions would wish to teach these people the language of the people who banished them from their lands.
