Ireland: Israeli products marked with yellow sticker

A pro-Israeli activist residing in Dublin, Ireland, was shocked this week when he discovered that a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) organization had taped yellow stickers on Israeli products reading "For justice in Palestine, Boycott Israel". Among the many items found carrying the yellow boycott sticker was a pack of dates from the Jordan Valley. One of the stickers read: "Organic dates – produce of West Bank; Israeli Settlement Produce."

The call for boycott is directed not only at products made in Israeli settlements but at Israeli products altogether – even though the sticker notes the product was made in the West Bank. Similar stickers were placed on other products in the Tesco supermarkets chain.

Tesco is a British chain originally established by Jewish businessman Jack Cohen, the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland. Cohen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren reside in Israel. The chain operates hundreds of grocery stores in Ireland as well. The BDS activity in Ireland is one of the most serious anti-Israel movements in Europe. It joins the Irish policy that pushes for marking all products from the West Bank in retail stores all over Europe.

Sources in the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said that the phenomenon is severe and it is not by chance that the BDS organization chose to express its protest with a yellow sticker – which is reminiscent of dark days of racism and incitement.

yellow, red, black and green stickers were a symbol of the Holocaust.

You would have had a good argument had the sticker been in the form of a 6-sided star.

It's called hating critics of Israel and BDS so much, since it is apparently working, that some will try anything to discredit them: even so much as screaming about the color of a sticker.

Personally I blame those damn anti-Semitic BDSM supermarkets for kicking off this evil yellow sticker trend. They might try and trot out the excuse that years of research show that bright yellow catches the eyes of shoppers, but me and the Israeli Foreign Ministry know that it's really a SEVERE phenomenon where neo-Nazism and grocery shopping have merged into the one thing!

This was blatant and right outside King O'Malley's. Ronald McDonald looked to me like he was trying to convert the tradie in the van to the BDSM movement. Shira has more information on this evil movement if you want to find out more!

....another ethnic or racial group other than Jews?

Genuine antisemitism is denied and ignored while perceived antisemitism is mocked and scorned. Winning formula there.

Classy.

===========

On another note, it's interesting doing a google image search on the words....boycott stickers. Simple enough. Guess as to what you'll see vs. what you won't see. Then try....boycott divestment sanctions. No need to mention Israel. Notice what's not there. Go on for a few pages. What's missing....

I do agree with you there.

Even though I don't think there is anything intended behind the color of the sticker, I find it weird that posters here would make jokes and post pictures of Big Bird and Ronald McDonald in relation to this topic.

frankly, I think that the author of this piece knew that they were drawing a long bow when they wrote it. The fact that they persisted and wrote the piece anyway makes it an article worthy of ridicule. It is a cynical and callow attempt to leverage the opprobrium that people rightly feel when they see genuine anti-semitism, but in a situation where none exists.

I imagine that if the sticker were red, the author would have said it was reminiscent of medieval blood libels. If it were green, the author would have said it was based on the colours of the Hamas flag. No matter what the situation, there is always some tenuous link that can be drawn by some grasping hasbarado.

kind of hypocritical dont you think ? when you consider how much they used the yellow star and other shoah symbols and the language of the holocaust ...such as kapo and Nazis etc ... against us during the disengagement from the Gush .

They can use it to score political points ...they do it all the time .

Not that I think the BDS movement did it on purpose .....just find it laughable how our religious right wing get so worked up when their own methods are used against them ...imagenery or not .

to demonstrate its not produce of Israel. That may be a precursor to an outright ban on import on such produce whatever.

Jewish communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are not recognised as being part of Israel.
