"Hundreds of Muslim worshippers clashed with police on Friday at Jerusalem's Temple Mount.
Following Friday prayers, hundreds of worshippers began hurling rocks at the Mughrabi Bridge at the entrance to the Temple Mount, which prompted Israeli police forces to enter the plaza and attempt t to scatter the protest.
Israeli police said that dozens of protesters gathered inside the Al-Aqsa mosque after hurling rocks at security forces, who, in a rare move, came to the entrance of the mosque and used stun grenades to scatter the protesters.
Several policemen were lightly wounded as a result of the rocks."

(45,850 posts)I've read this all 3 big Israeli English language onlines (Haaretz,Ynet, and JPost) and all have one thing in common they gloss over the instigation of this weeks incidents by rightwing Israeli Jews, mentioning briefly at the very end of the articles Haaretz most of all , albeit thge most fantasical was one from yesterday which had Muslims stoning Christians because Jews prayed at the site or some such, guess you gotta pander to the right groups though

(45,850 posts)however you may find it more palatable coming from Caroline Glicks (she is the deputy managing editor) paper JPost
erusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said the protesters were reacting to reports that a group of Jews bent on destroying the Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock and building the Third Temple on the site planned to ascend the Temple Mount en masse.
There were similar rumors of such an attempt to be led by Likud activist Moshe Feiglin the previous Sunday.

Muslim mobs again hurled stones at Christian tourists and Jewish visitors atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount on Tuesday following a similar attack earlier in the week.
One police officer who was among those escorting the Christian and Jewish groups was injured, and two Muslim assailants were arrested.
Police were already on high alert for clashes atop the Temple Mount after local Muslim websites posted calls to "protect" the mosques occupying the Temple Mount from Jews who allegedly planned to desecrate them by praying there.
A day earlier, police arrested small group of Jews who they believe did indeed intend to commit the heinous crime of praying atop Judaism's holiest site.

(30,109 posts)The attacks on these Jews appear to be a natural and quite reasonable response to such outrageous provocation.
The UN should have convened a special session to address this provocation before it got out of hand.

(45,850 posts)Jerusalem Christians are latest targets in recent spate of 'price tag' attacks
In both church attacks, the vandals spray-painted slogans denouncing Christianity, Jesus and Mary, such as "Jesus is dead," "Death to Christianity" and "Mary was a prostitute." They also included the by-now customary "price tag" slogan.
The Jerusalem police said they have arrested several suspects in this spate of attacks, including one for the attacks on Peace Now and one for the vandalism of the bilingual school. The latter suspect, arrested last week, said he vandalized the school to avenge the Beitar Jerusalem soccer team's loss to two Arab teams two weeks ago, according to police. Police believe that many of the other attacks are similarly motivated by ordinary hooliganism, rather than ideology.
