PA Official: Israel to reopen Kerem Shalom crossing Wednesday

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israel will reopen the Kerem Shalom crossing with the Gaza Strip on Wednesday after keeping it closed for six consecutive days, a Palestinian official said.

Nazmi Muhanna, the Palestinian Authority director of border crossings, told Ma'an Tuesday that Israeli officials had informed the Palestinian side that the Kerem Shalom crossing would resume operations Wednesday.

The crossing was open Sunday and Monday, but only for fuel deliveries.

Israel shut down the crossing last Wednesday in the wake of a flare-up of violence that began when an Israeli airstrike killed three Palestinian militants in southern Gaza the day before.

KD and shira post about a topic that interests them which they're knowledgable about; most often to refute inaccurate or unfair criticism. If you see them defending Israel often it's probably because so many people post statements deserving of critique or who could benefit from an alternate perspective. I don't think its necessary to meet some stranger's arbitrary benchmark of legitimacy to weigh in on an issue.

Comments like yours remind me of the old conservative saw "America, love it or leave it." frequently leveled against Vietnam war protesters a generation ago. Just as you're free to criticize Israeli actions without having to move to Palestine we are free to weigh in on the same conflict regardless of where we live.

Interestingly the main request that pro-Israelis tend to make isn't a demand that anti-zionists join hamas in fighting Israel but rather that they take the time to educate themselves on this complex issue more thoroughly before forming such concrete opinions. I find it telling that the same posters who can't be troubled to read a few books on the subject they confidently lecture others about seem to be the same ones who expect their ideological opponents to permanently move to Israel before their opinions merit serious consideration.
