Time To Clear Out Gaza Terror Once And For All, Say Some On Right

Several politicians and professors are calling for the government to expand the current military strikes against targets in Gaza, with some demanding the IDF “clean” the strip of terrorist infrastructure — despite declarations from leaders that they do not seek further escalation of the conflict.

On the fourth day of violence between Gaza terrorists and the Israeli military, the government in Jerusalem stated that it wanted to restore calm. But prominent Israelis from several sectors of society are increasingly advocating a reprise of Operation Cast Lead, a three-week campaign in late 2008 and early 2009 that included a ground invasion into Gaza that left 13 Israelis and more than 1,000 Palestinians dead.

“This might be a good time to ‘clean’ Gaza of its terrorist infrastructure. In fact, this should have been done a long time ago,” said Efraim Inbar, the director of Bar-Ilan University’s Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies.

Inbar said he supported a full-fledged ground invasion of Gaza, which he said was ultimately inevitable. “An ‘Operation Cast Lead II’ could have its own merits,” he told The Times of Israel. While Israel will neither be able to topple Hamas, which rules the strip, nor prevent terrorists from smuggling weapons and rockets from Egypt, he said, Jerusalem should aim to deliver “a terrible blow” to Hamas’s capabilities to rain missiles on Israel.

about engagements like this is that it's an army vs what is essentially a militia. Yes, both sides have civilian deaths on them, but for the IDF to try to destroy a network of enemies that is comprised of the civilian base in an area, they're bound to have a tremendous amount of collateral damage. Is that acceptable to them? The US would never go for that (I would freaking hope).

3. Hamas is much more than a militia

It is a well armed light infantry militarily and controls all levels of government in Gaza. However, its members are indistinguishable from the populace.

The key is how much HUMINT the IDF has. During OCL, it was clear there was a great deal which lead to the destruction of material and the deaths of much of Hamas leadership and infrastructure. Since then, Hamas has redoubled its security arrangements. Best approach for Israel would be to strike and agreement with the PA to allow the IDF to rid Gaza of Hamas.

how long till we get people in here to defend the phosphorus fire bombing of gaza hospitals?

or maybe when they blew up the UN HQ in gaza?

or bulldozing over unarmed Americans in to meat paste in the name of new settlements?

Israel = hamas = hezbola = iran = fuck all = screw that part of the world and let them kill each other for land smaller than a ranch.

they are all the heads of one monster. fuck em. murderous theocrats.

one thing i hate more than fascism it's theocracy. whether christian, hindu, islamic, hebrew or what ever. nothing every good comes out of structuring a state under or for a theology.

6. The problem with "cleaning out Gaza" is that the civilian population will be cleaned out as well
