http://972mag.com/how-israeli-media-obscures-palestinian-humanity/96173/If I were to describe a movie equivalent of the West Bank in words, it would be part way between a scene from John Carpenters Escape from LA, mixed with a little of your favorite Spaghetti Western, with strong hints of Heart of Darkness the book, not the movie.
Well at least thats the impression I get from some of the Israeli press, which then filters down into the psyche of the people, who get an image of a savage territory with pockets of light built by the settlers.
I wont mention that most of these settlers have formal military training as part of their conscription, nor that they are often heavily armed. No, that wouldnt be right. I wont bring up the fact that there are a number of settlements around the West Bank from which the residents often go on rampages against the nearby Palestinian villages, destroying trees and other crops. I wont even point out that over the years civilian settlers have killed dozens of Palestinians. Im not going to mention any of those points because that would distort the image.

(5,397 posts)So Israeli media hasn't been accurately reporting on the price tag attacks or documenting the violently ideological settler movements? That's just totally, completely untrue.

(4,139 posts)The flaw in the article is that he does not mention specifics , apart from Arutz 7 , nor does he mention which media .....TV , Press , radio ..internet ....nor does he mention in which language ...English or Hebrew ... there are huge variations between both .
Sometimes even the Hebrew version of Haaretz never gets translated to English ...too much for you guys to handle .
Anyhow watch this :

Two violent incidents occurred between settlers and Palestinians near the villages of Jalud and Qusra. The report, shown on the state-run Channel Ones weekend edition, revealed flared tempers in the West Bank. The report presents the Palestinians as the initiators of the violence. The Palestinian version of events was documented by Btselem, an organization seen to be pro-Palestinian. Contrarily, the settlers version was presented by an observer organization, and included footage from Channel One adding an aura of journalistic authenticity. Instead of sticking to the facts, Channel Ones report is biased, tendentious and one-sided. Has the state-run TV station forgotten its true role?
