Israeli bulldozers enter border area in southern Gaza

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Several Israeli bulldozers entered the southern Gaza Strip on Friday and leveled Palestinian land, locals said.

Witnesses told Ma'an that bulldozers entered some 150 meters into the al-Qarara area near Khan Younis and razed local land.

The incursion is considered a violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in August.

Last week, four Israeli bulldozers entered the al-Qarara area and demolished private land.

Since the signing of a ceasefire agreement that ended 50 days of fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants in Gaza on Aug. 26, the Israeli navy has fired at Gaza fishermen multiple times under the pretext that they had surpassed fishing zone limits.

Palestinians say since onset of truce, Israeli naval forces have increased targeting them with shootings and arrests.

Last updated: 19 Sep 2014 12:09

For years, Gaza's fishermen have struggled to work under Israel's naval blockade. Israel restricts how far Palestinian boats can sail, and since the ceasefire the dangers have increased, threatening the livelihoods of fishermen.

Al Jazeera's Charles Stratford reports from Gaza about fisherman who say they are being shot at, arrested and offered bribes to spy.

the Palestinians need to film all of these transgressions. Otherwise they just will not believed, I think.

Since presently no bombs are falling the world public does not pay much attention, and Israel counts on that.

Provoke, provoke and do it again. When at last there is a reaction, they can justify more bombing.

Is there a mechanism in place to make sure that is not happening?

That was why I raised the question. Is there a monitoring mechanism in place to check on that?

and, yes, I would like to see videos of those incidents.

However, the question you posed in your 1st answer is insinuating that Palestinians are doing that without even any such reports.

I rather stick to what is reported than to a "could perhaps be" attempt to attack the other side.

There is no statement given from the Israeli side. Maybe they were tipped off about something related to tunnels? The article does not indicate that any attempt was made to get an Israeli statement on this.

on the story. Then my question to you is why not? Israel should be more than happy to refute the report.

It could have done so in its own papers. If so, where is it?

I happen to be a person, who rather believes the eye witnesses in Furgeson in spite of small divergences, instead of the non-existent report by the police.

Now I have to get back to the FDR film, so have a good evening!

Israeli forces entered the outskirts of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, this morning to complete what they called "security activity" at the barrier around the Strip, eye witnesses reported.

Witnesses said: "Four Israeli bulldozers set off this morning from Kissufim military base, and penetrated 100 meters east of the town of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Yunis."

According to witnesses, the bulldozers dredged agricultural land near the town before leaving.

Israeli Army Radio quoted unnamed military sources as saying that the Israeli army this morning carried out "security activity" by examining the border area with Khan Yunis.

The incursion is the third on the borders of the Gaza Strip since the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinians and Israel on August 26, brokered by Egypt, after the Israeli war which lasted 51 days.

Over the past two weeks, Israel has carried out similar activities on the outskirts of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
