October 1 meeting comes on heels of U.S.-Israeli tension during the summer operation in the Gaza Strip.By Barak Ravid | Sep. 22, 2014 | 11:56 PM
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold talks with President Barack Obama next week at the White House, for first meeting between the two in seven months and on the heels of U.S.-Israeli tension during the summer operation in the Gaza Strip.
The announcement about the October 1 meeting was made late Monday by the spokesperson for the White House's National Security Council, Caitlin Hayden, and confirmed by senior Israeli officials.
Because of Rosh Hashanah, Netanyahu will not be attending the leadership gatherings taking place later this week alongside the UN General Assembly in New York. Netanyahu, who is flying to New York on Sunday to address the gathering, will be arriving after most world leaders, including Obama, will have left the city. As a result he will make a special trip to Washington for a few hours next Wednesday to meet the U.S. president.
Their meeting is expected to deal with U.S. action against the Islamic State organization in Iraq and Syria, as well as the negotiations on a permanent agreement regarding Irans nuclear program. Netanyahu has stressed several times recently that the West dares not offer Iran any concessions in return for Tehrans help in the struggle against the Islamic State.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss the unilateral moves being made in the United Nations by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas is looking to promote a General Assembly resolution stating that the borders of the future Palestinian state will be based on the 1967 lines, and that the timetable for an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank should be no longer than three years.

when you ignore her I should count that as your agreement with her statements.

Because my DU showed it to be posted on a group thread which doesn't look like a private correspondence area and is open to any DU member to respond to any post.

(58,724 posts)Do you seriously get the impression that every post I don't respond to is one I completely agree with?
I would think we'd have been doing this long enough for you to not think that.
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)seeking condemnation for the post you pointed out. I do not recall you ever asking me to confirm such a thing
for the poster I referenced, ever. As a result I found your question selectively displaced but no, I typically do
not consider anyone's non-response to mean they're in agreement with a post and or OP.
If I have something to say to someone, I direct it to the poster, for the most part, and try my best to
keep it civil.

(58,724 posts)It wasn't meant that way. I was just wondering if you felt the same way about that comment or no. It was an honest question.
Sometimes there are posts that seem really from another planet to me, but not so to others (and vice versa).

(69 posts)You are reading from an Israeli newspaper. How harsh language do you expect it to use? I got news for you. The NY Times would have said about the same thing. You might get the wrong impression from dealing mostly with people on the pacifist side of the world. But the mainstream concensus is that, to date, there is proof that only one side in this conflict committed war crimes.

This all reminds me when George W Bush won re-election. You had all these liberals in confusion saying "How could anyone vote for someone that dumb? I just don't get what is going on." Yeah, if you live in San Francisco, you had the impression that no one in the country could vote for Bush.
