Shin Bet say firefights broke out while attempting to apprehend two suspects in the murder of Gil-Ad Shaer, Naftali Frenkel, and Eyal Yifrah; Hamas confirms their deaths, praises their 'sacrifice'.Elior Levy
In a joint operation with the IDF and Israeli SWAT teams, Shin Bet operatives located and killed Amar Abu-Eisha and Marwan Kawasmeh early Tuesday morning - two of the suspects involved in the kidnap and murder of Gil-Ad Shaer, Naftali Frenkel, and Eyal Yifrach in June. Hamas confirmed their deaths and praised the two for a lifetime of "sacrifice".
According to the official Shin Bet announcement, security forces arrived at the suspected location in the West Bank in an effort to arrest the two men, when a firefight broke out during which both suspects were killed.
It was also cleared for publication by the Shin Bet that Bashar Kawasmeh, Mahmed Kawasmeh, and Taar Kawasmeh, the sons of the third suspect, Arafat Kawasmeh, who's already in custody, were arrested overnight.
Hamas' spokesperson abroad, Hussam Barduan, confirmed the killing, saying "Two members of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Amar Abu-Eisha and Marwan Kawasmeh, were killed after a long life of sacrifice and giving. This is the way of the resistence and we follow in its wake step after step."

(30,099 posts)The two wanted Palestinians who have been suspected of kidnapping and murdering three Jewish teenagers in Gush Etzion earlier this summer, were shot and killed by the IDF in an exchange of fire on Tuesday morning.
Before dawn on Tuesday, soldiers surrounded the building in Hebron where Marwan Kawasme and Amer Abu Aysha, the two main suspects in the kidnapping and murder, were holed up.
Both terrorist suspects had been hiding out in a carpentry shop in Hebron when security forces, led by the Counter-Terrorism Unit, reached them overnight between Monday and Tuesday. Security sources said the suspects were armed with automatic weapons, and fired on security forces upon sight, who returned fire. The suspects were killed in the exchange of fire.
Brig.-Gen. Tamir Yadai, commander of the Judea and Samara Division, said, "We have been pursuing Marwan and Amar since June 20. This has been a long and complex operation involving the Shin Bet, the IDF, and the Counter-Terrorism Unit. Yesterday evening we located their hiding spot, and since 1 a.m. we surrounded it."

(30,099 posts)"Overnight, Amer Abu Aisha and Marwan Qawame, murderers of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali -- were killed in exchange of fire with IDF forces," Israeli army spokesman Peter Lerner said on his Twitter account.
The June abduction of the three teenagers from a hitchhiking stop in the southern West Bank sparked a huge Israeli search operation in which more than 400 Palestinians were arrested and at least five killed.
It also sparked the revenge killing by Jewish extremists of a Palestinian teenager and led to a surge in tensions that helped trigger the 50-day war between Israel and Hamas in and around Gaza that ended on Aug. 26.
Witnesses told Ma'an that they saw a dead body but couldn't identify it because it was not close enough. They added that the mother of Abu Aisha walked past the body and was also unable to identify it.
A Ma'an reporter added that Israeli troops were surrounding the Hebron University area after they had blew up the main doors of several buildings and stores.
An Israeli bulldozer, he added, was demolishing some structures in the neighborhood.
Witnesses said they saw smoke rising from a shoe factory.
Ma'an staff in Hebron contributed reporting.

(69 posts)This is premeditated murder, Kamel Hmeid, the governor of Hebron, said on Voice of Palestine radio. They have indicated from the start that they are not interested in arrests or confessions; they want them dead. It is a unilateral trial, judgment and verdict. . . ..
Brig. Gen. Avi Yedai, head of the militarys forces in the West Bank, told Israel Radio that the two men accused of the kidnapping were given a chance to surrender, but did not respond. The Israelis then began destroying the building with a tractor and firing into the building, General Yedai said.

This is fraud. Israel says the suspects (or murders, if you will) were given the chance to surrender. In the USA, when a terrorist will not surrender, you kill him. What choice do you have. You cannot just spend the rest of your life holding him under seige. I trust the Israeli claim that a chance was given for surrender, more than I trust the Hebron Governor's suggestion that no chance was given. The Hebron governor does not cite any evidence. It is not that easy for an Israeli general to lie, when he knows last week 43 low level soldiers wrote a public letter complaining. It is harder to commit fraud in a democracy than with Palestinian dictatorship.

(85 posts)Do you think Netanyahu will release all the "evidence" that he claimed proved that Hamas was behind the kidnappings?
Following the Israeli boys abduction, Netanyahu promised to publish the evidence collected by Israeli security forces that he said proved Hamas had ordered the kidnappings, but it has never been disclosed.

(69 posts)still might release the evidence. And yet he said that when there was a need for a trial. When the suspects refused to surrender, they were consciously committing suicide, obviating the need for a trial. They could not have imagined they would actually escape and chose to go down in a blaze of fire.

(85 posts)He said he had proof that Hamas ordered the kidnappings.
It does not matter if the suspects were killed. It does not matter that they fired back. That does not prove guilt-nor does it erase the burden of proof Netanyahu claims.

(45,850 posts)According to Palestinian security sources and local news agencies, the Israeli army raided Hebron and arrested the two brothers Shadi and Alaa Zakaria Abu Zina, Ammar Abu Eisha and his wife Ikram Abu Aisha, Iyad Shabana al-Tamimi, Yasser Jamal, Dirar Abu Saw, and the brothers Marwan, Sharif, Bilal and Ayman Osman Qawasmeh. They were all arrested after the IOF broke into their homes and searched them, and they were taken to unknown locations.
The sources added that the Israeli army raided several neighborhoods in the towns of the Hebron province: Dura, Yatta, Beit Kahil, and Tarqumiya, and broke into dozens of homes and inspected and confiscated recordings of surveillance cameras, under the pretext of searching for 3 settlers that disappeared on Thursday night near an Israeli illegal settlement, north of Hebron.

(85 posts)From Jerusalem Post-
A senior security source told The Jerusalem Post that the Shin Bet confirmed the identity of the kidnappers within 24 hours of the kidnapping. He stressed the fact that both were in administrative detention in the past, a fact that he says shows that this measure is used against clear dangers to national security.
So-Shin Bet says they know exactly who did it within 24 hours-which would be June 13. June 14-the suspects are arrested as reported by the above article.....and then.................???
Something is not adding up.

(30,099 posts)The funeral for Amer Abu Aisha and Marwan al-Qawasmeh, suspects in the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens in June, set off from the al-Hussein Bin Ali mosque in central Hebron.
Abu Aisha's mother took part in carrying her son's coffin, as her husband and other sons are currently being held in Israeli detention centers.
The governor of Hebron said Israel "executed" the men and at no point attempted to detain and interrogate them.
The bodies of al-Qawasmeh and Abu Aisha were given to the Palestinian Red Crescent and the Palestinian Military Liaison after the families identified the bodies.
