families already under attack in NC

http://pamshouseblend.firedoglake.com/

It’s hard to “move on” when less than 24 hours after the vote families are already under attack here.

'Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James asked county staff Wednesday morning about stripping health coverage from domestic partners of gay county employees, which he termed “faux marriage benefits.”

“Now that Amendment One has passed, it obviously is illegal to offer this benefit, as there is now only one ‘domestic legal union’ recognized in the state,” James wrote in an email to other commissioners and county leaders.”

I doubt the couples in Charlotte-Mecklenburg that that have DP benefits are celebrating — Bill James is salivating at the opportunity to undo the sliver of benefits that they have been granted.

Pam Spaulding goes on to pronounce this as the death knell for the anti-gay movement -- i however find them to be like zombies --

Remember, the President supports gay marriage, if a state wants you to have it.

Why are you so ungrateful?

You need to start reading more GD threads, so the straight members of DU can educate you on how ungrateful you are for not being happy with the crumb that has been given you.

The "states' rights qualifier" was a bit of a slap in the face the day after Amendment 1 passed.

It's sad that so many in NC got on this hate train to nowhere. Maybe someday more straight people will get motivated to bother voting to protect EVERYONE'S rights and not let the crazy rednecks and fundies rule the state.
