One thing is for sure. The distinction between the parties and their standardbearers is now clear

See this excellent OP in General Discussion http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002671887

In fact, I dont know if there is a more clear distinction across the board in the campaign than the two parties and Presidential candidate's positions on LGBT rights. That's important, in the last several Presidential campaigns, there was not much distance between the various candidates stated positions on many LGBT issues. Now that there is a major difference, it means LGBT rights will be front and center during the campaign. It will HAVE to be brought up at the debates, probably several times in front of extremely large naitonal audiences.

Even though in my opinion, the President committed a bit of a fumble with his otherwise landmark statement supporting marriage equality, I think it is pretty clear to everyone that he is going to move really hard on gay marriage and issues like ENDA in his second term.

Why support marriage equality?
Answer: It is the right thing to do. Equality is the right thing and it is the place we as a country have always been striving to get to. It is the fulfillment of our Constitutional values.

Boom, no equivocation necessary.
