Centenarian Transgender Woman is Star of Burmese LGBT Rally

A 106-year-old Burmese transgender woman spoke at a gay rights rally last week in Rangoon, held in honor of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

The woman, whose name wasn't released, told the audience how pleased she was to be part of the event, the first ever held in Rangoon. The centenarian has lived through British colonialism and Burmese independence.

‘She was almost in tears,’ one of the organizers of the event, Aung Myo Min, told Gay Star News.

Imagine the history she knows. The things, good and bad, that she's seen. I certainly hope someone talks to her and collects her knowledge. It would be an awful thing to lose.
