Jim Parsons Reveals He's Gay In NY Times Profile

Award-winning actor Jim Parsons reveals he's gay and in a 10-year relationship, according to a New York Times profile.

Parsons, best-known as Sheldon Cooper on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, discusses his work in last year's production of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer's searing chronicle of the AIDS epidemic in New York City during the early 1980s. The Times' Patrick Healy writes, "The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship..."

The 39-year-old actor publicly thanked his partner Todd Spiewak from the podium of the Golden Globe awards ceremony while accepting the trophy for best actor in a comedy series.

and Jim Parsons is the reason why. Yes the writing is excellent but Jim is perfect in that role.

I just started watching it on Fios a few months ago and I haven't seen a "Modern Family" or "30 Rock" since. I have such a back log of shows to watch but if I can squeeze in an hour of TV (after the little one goes to bed) I end up watching Big Bang Theory.

but I thought he had already "come out" a few years ago. Maybe it was the Golden Globes speech that led me to believe he had.

Anyway, wonderful news!

I love his character on Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper, too. I don't think he ever officially came out before, but many of us sort of thought he probably was. This is great news.
