Torie Osborn is not your typical political candidate. She tells the truth about her life and tells the voters what she really thinks and feels. You wont get any canned sound bites from this candidate. She will tell you that the voters are sick of political hacks.
A candidate for the new 50th Assembly District, she started with career in Women's music as an out lesbian feminist and after decades of leadership as an LGBT community leader, a women's rights activist and an advocate for people affected by HIV/AIDS, she is running for office for the very first time.

Denise: After running several non-profits and successfully creating so much change as a community leader during your career, what inspired you to run for office?
Torie: I have expressed my leadership and desire to serve in many different ways: primarily in running non-profit organizations, whether the mission was LGBT rights or fighting poverty. But it is time for me to take my lifetime skills and experiences and bring them into the electoral context. Ivy Bottini is one of the first people who told me I needed to run for office. She said, This is your next step in leadership. Then she came to the Democratic Convention and wheeled into all the caucuses in her wheelchair and fought for me. Im a lesbian feminist with an MBA. Im an organizer. I deeply believe that it is a time that we need strong leaders who are unafraid to speak the truth and have a vision for the future
