(3,310 posts)and see how it pinches. If it pinches, well, maybe the person it's pinching oughta think twice the next time. Misogyny is as ugly as racism or homophobia; I think that's where a lot of trouble starts, but that's just me.
Have you cross-posted to GD? This needs to hit more then just us.

(6,187 posts)...if you make a point of making a fuss about how uncomfortable said shoes are.
"Arrive naked. Bring beer." really does sum it up, albeit crudely.
That said, the human mind is infinitely reprogramable, and it's perfectly possible to go gaga for an inadavertently exposed ankle.
However, long hair and fingernails, impractical footwear and clothing, have little to do with sexual attraction in the "ainmal sense" we normally associate with the term. And almost everything to do with demonstrating afluence and a lack of need to engage in rough manual labour and the rude practices of commoners to survive.

(9,001 posts)High heels allow for a variety of sexual signaling (read: healthy and fertile) to occur.
1) "toning" the calf muscles, making them seem more firm and therefore more healthy.
2) increasing the length of the lower half of the body to the upper half. Testing shows the optimal ratio to be between 1.25:1 up to 1.5:1. A ratio of leg to torso of 1:1 would signal an immature female and therefore unsuitable for breeding.
3) thrusts out buttocks
4) thrusts out breasts
5) indicates a greater degree flexibility of the tendons and ligaments which are indicative of a higher estrogen level. this not only indicates fertility, but also the ability of the tendons and ligaments in the pelvic bowl to spread, thereby increasing the chances of successful birthing. Men's higher testosterone levels don't usually allow for this hyperflexion, which is why you do not see male ballet dancers go en pointe.
So, howz about you learn a little anthropology, a lot of anatomy and physiognomy and restate your "thesis".

(51,508 posts)What about stereotypical "manly" poses? Would they be any more or less ridiculous if women did them? I really don't see the point of this.

(18,421 posts)If the author was purposefully picking poses that would seem ridiculous as is the case in this spread.
The point of posting it is to show who differently we treat gender roles in society. That what is seen as acceptable and even necessary for one gender role is seen as absurd and laughable to another gender role.

(8,267 posts)that women--and female bodies--are objectified and used to sell all manner of consumer goods.
The power imbalance inherent in the social construct we've labeled 'patriarchy' is damaging to our entire species. How can we expect a 'dominant' gender to respect a 'submissive' gender, when 'power over' is glorified? We women are considered less than because we have a 'v' instead of a 'p'! How absurd!

(BTW, I know I've posted this before. However, I've noticed that some of the misogynists on DU have been working hard to deny their misogyny...)
