Dan Savage On 4-Year Old Singing ‘Ain’t No Homos Gonna Make It To Heaven’

Dan Savage, founder of the It Gets Better project, commented today on the four-year old who was filmed singing “Ain’t no homos gonna make it to heaven,” in an Indiana church, as The New Civil Rights Movement reported today. The church is the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Greensburg, Indiana.

In, “O They Will Know We Are Christians…,” Savage writes:

The Apostolic Truth Tabernacle is in Greensburg, Indiana. That’s the town where Billy Lucas was bullied to death for being perceived to be gay by his classmates. I wonder if they stood up and cheered at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle when Lucas died—hey, another homo in hell. I wonder if any of Lucas’s tormenters attend services at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle. And remember: I’m an anti-Christian bully for pointing out the connection between what straight kids are taught about “homos” in the shithole mega-churches they’re dragged to by their parents and what they turn around and do to “homos” they encounter in classrooms. And what if that precocious little four-year-old singer is gay?

Praise the Lord and pass the barf bags.

Savage, of course, is referring to Billy Lucas, who was one of almost a dozen youth and teen suicides in September of 2010. And he’s absolutely right: “what if that precocious little four-year-old singer is gay?”

Parents who teach their children hate are the ones who aren’t going to make it into any heaven I can conceive.

Take a look at the video of the four-year old singing “Ain’t no homos gonna make it to heaven,” if you can.

RTV6 notes:

The video appears to show The Rev. Jeff Sangl, the pastor and founder of the church, according to the church’s website, laughing and congratulating the child after he finishes the song.

A man is heard shouting, “That’s my boy!” as members of the congregation give the boy a standing ovation.

Since the video was posted online, the church’s Facebook page has been flooded with complaints from users across the globe.

“I’ve never seen such an appalling, horrific example of small minding, hate ridden bigots, brainwashing children in all my life,” wrote Ruth Mabey from England.

“Way to teach hate, you repressed inbreds. Does Jesus hate? I didn’t think so,” wrote Gerry Syler from Texas.

Others appeared to side with the church, congratulating them for taking a stand.

“Wow, y’all is getting famous. Praise the Lord! I will share your page with all my fellow believers. God will show you the way,” wrote Nathen Elbert Dovel from Virginia.

over here, too.

I can't get that story out of my head. All these "churches" talking openly about genocide, exposing their true selves.

G'd may not be stuck on pretty, but I'm pretty sure SHe don't like ugly... and the kind of talk coming from those hate-peddling snake-handlers is nothing but ugly.

Please help us. Progressives in Greensburg Indiana, where this “church” is located, are trying to get the county to stop using the Apostolic “Truth” Tabernacle as an election polling place. The taxpayers actually pay a small fee to this church for using their facilities on Election Day. County Clerk Janet Chadwell refuses to stop using this church. Please call or email her at 812-663-8223 or clerk@decaturcounty.in.gov. Please keep the pressure up until this polling place is moved!

I think your op needs to be cross posted in GD and the Indiana forum with this comment attached. Taxpayers dollars should not be given (no matter how small) to those that promote hate.
