Related: About this forum11 years...Steel!
My partner and I are celebrating our 11 year anniversary today! Of course, he has a cold and my allergies are in high gear, so the gifts this year are Kleenex! LOL!
No official recognition, of course, because, well, we are in Oklahoma, but 11 years all the same. We met in OKC at a bar called "The Park." I have been lucky ever since...he got the consolation prize. HA! But, he is stuck with me now! I am like chewing gum on the sole of a sneaker, he ain't NEVER getting rid of me!
Anyway, I thought I would share our happy news. Have a great weekend all.
Oh, gifts are readily accepted.

(56,177 posts)Although I have to say "steel" is weird...almost like paper being appropriate for whatever number anniversary that is.

One year we needed to replace a toilet in our house and jokingly referred to it as our anniversary gift. When I looked up the gift list--it was the porcelain year!
I hope you are both feeling better in no time at all.

(599 posts)After the first couple of years you should both know all the good, and bad, about each other. Congratulations on making it this far. May you have another happy 11, and then another, and another, and another, etc.

(1,388 posts)I take steel is the 11 year anniversary gift. Good on you both.
Of course you realize that the modern 11th gift is fashion jewelry.

(56,100 posts)The irony, is the dental hygienist (I had three crowns put in yesterday) suggested steel jewelry.

(1,388 posts)And good luck with three crowns at once. I hate getting used to just one.

2-22 has always been a good date for me as well, a good one for new beginnings for some reason.
Congratulations.
Carry on!

(56,100 posts)It is actually 2-22-2002...that's a buncha two's! It is my favorite number and I think it represents a strong connection to two people, us. I thought about a picture, but, we are both sick and no reason to scare the shit out of people because we don't feel good. LOL!

(Your steel/kleenex juxtaposition reminds me of a Larry Niven essay from long ago on the impracticalities of Superman having a physical relationship with Lois Lane, called "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." %) )
