Forcing straights to stay married for 2 years before divorce: Cons focus on ACTUAL marriage threat?

I have long railed against anti-gay-marriage straights for their horrific divorce rate, and questioned why conservatives don't go after divorcees. Amazingly, it looks like NC is actually trying to do this:

North Carolina 'Healthy Marriage Act' Would Set Two-Year Waiting Period For Divorce, Require Counseling

Two North Carolina Republican lawmakers are hoping to make it more difficult for married couples in the state to get divorced.

State Sens. Austin Allran (R) and Sen. Warren Daniel (R) introduced the "Healthy Marriage Act" last week, a bill that would require couples seeking to end their marriages to first undergo a two-year waiting period -- during which the couple could live together. The current waiting period is one year, during which the couple must have "lived separate and apart."

Both parties in the divorce would also be required to complete a set of counseling courses on improving "communication skills" and "conflict resolution." If the couple has children, they'd also be required to complete a course of at least four hours on the impact of divorce on children. None of the courses would be required to be taken together.

So what do you think? Is this the right walking the line its mouth has been towing all this time or just more classic GOP intrusion into people's private lives?

I'm personally a tiny bit impressed (shocked, even) that they are going after what I consider to be the biggest actual threat to straight marriage, but I'm hesitant to give them props for being the morality police (yet again again again again). I'm also curious if there will be any backlash from the multitude of divorcees out there.

Who the fuck do they think they are? People have the right to control their own personal lives and decide for themselves if they want to stay married or not. Oh, but wait...the government is too big and butting into our liberties and freedom. Fascist hypocrites.

marriage has to STAY in that marriage, AND pay for counseling? sounds like a great money-making scheme for shrinks, doesn't it? mandated counseling, for which the state will not pay, of course.

private lives, govt? as in, stay the hell OUT.

Further lining their pockets. An extra year of increased opportunity to entangle one or boath parties in the legal system by virtue of restraining orders, civil complaints and what have you. An extra year any involved children are overly exposed to a volatile environment. Of course what good christen would care about that as pockets will be lined from an additional year of 'child services'.
Oh YES! Let's go after the biggest actual threat to straight marriage.

republicans, working to make peoples lives more miserable every day.
