Unfortunately, their online disruptive behavior is only a glimpse into how they interact with people in real life.

(71,265 posts)When he was allowed back on he was suspended again within 2days. The admins had enough. The comment in the link here also is a big reason.

He let the ideologues get to him. Ya can't do that online. It'll drive you to drink. Just gotta chuckle at the crazy and move on.

Right now I just want the pain to stop. My leg and back are killing me. I can't sleep. And while Advil might help the back no painkiller in the world can help with the leg.
For those who don't know, the main nerve running down into my left leg was damaged during the first of my three operations for diverticulitis in 2007. (I went into the hospital on my birthday, which is one if the reasons I no longer celebrate it.)
The damage left me with a condition called Meralgia paraesthetica, and cannot be reversed. The pain has come and gone for the past six years and lately it has come a lot more than it has gone.
If my leg isn't in exactly the right position the damaged parts of the nerve fire randomly. For an idea of what it feels like, imagine a very bad sunburn. From my thigh to my knee, that's what it feels like.
As I said, no painkiller can help. Even when I was on dilaudid in the hospital I could feel it. (But as I was on dilaudid I didn't give a shit.)
It's really only in the last year and a half that it has become debilitating. I can't walk up or down steps like I used to. (Down is actually worse than up.) Sitting for more than a few minutes gets uncomfortable. And as you can see by this time stamp, many nights I can't sleep.
If I am short with you nowadays just ask if I'm in pain. Odds are I am and don't realize I am taking it out on you.
God, I just want it to go away.
I didn't know much about his posting history but he seemed to get in heated back and forths with other posters. The internet isn't worth that kind of emotion. I think it would be nice if posters like him, were throttled to two or three posts a day for a month or so until they regain perspective, rather than expel them from the group categorized/labeled after so many posts.... Misogynist.

(32,886 posts)As someone who periodically (over the last 13 years since badly herniating c6-c7) has to deal with extreme pain, both the pain, and the kinds of meds you take to deal with it are not good for calm and rational discourse.
I've had discussions via Ask the administrators with Skinner about various methods to deal with different kinds of problem people and I've advocated for certain folks to have more timeouts and such but Skinner said his experience is that those things rarely help.

(26,371 posts)to stand up for LGBT DUers at times when this was not a very hospitable place for us.
Like many bannings, this one strikes me as a bit capricious. There are far worse offenders still spreading their hateful magic from one end of DU to the other, like the one who recently barked at a lesbian DUer, "You have plenty of rights," and the one who declared "Latin America is but a cyst on the anus of the world." Both of them are still around.
Two of the more enthusiastic participants in Pab's gravedancing thread made it their purpose in life back in 2007-2009 to harass LGBT DUers, and several good, longtime members flamed out after they got tired of the endless bullying and lashed out. They are gone but their bullies are still here and still up to their usual.
And let's not forget the person who received one of DU's most deserved and long overdue tombstones after referring to marriage equality as "a fabulous pink pony" and then zombied up and has had at least twenty posts hidden in his current incarnation. Still here.
There are plenty of other examples, but why belabor the point?

(53,866 posts)as i didn't even really know about this, till i read this thread. i just remember that i thought some of his attacks were very sexist in nature, especially when deciding as to who should moderate the LGBT forum. he was not alone, but he was definitely one of them.
